MM2 Beginner Guide: How to Play Murder Mystery 2

The Three Roles

Every MM2 round assigns twelve players into three roles:

If the Sheriff dies, any Innocent can grab the dropped gun and become the hero. Rounds are short, so you’ll cycle through all three roles quickly.

Coins, Crates and Your First Weapons

Coins spawn around every map. Grab them constantly — even mid-chase — because coins are the engine of everything else:

  1. 1,000 coins opens a crate. Crates drop weapon skins by rarity: most results are common, and a godly is roughly a 1-in-500 pull.
  2. Duplicates aren’t wasted. Salvage them at the crafting station for shards and metals.
  3. Shards craft upward. Twelve common shards make an uncommon weapon, twelve uncommons make a rare — and 20 Legendary Shards craft Seer, the classic first godly.

That Seer matters more than it looks: it’s the baseline unit of MM2 trading. Once you own one, you’re in the economy.

Your First Week, In Order

  1. Learn maps by playing Innocent aggressively for coins.
  2. Open crates as soon as you hit 1,000 coins — don’t hoard.
  3. Salvage every duplicate; start working toward Seer.
  4. Once you have any godly, read our trading guide and check the value list before your first trade.
